Ladies, we men say a lot of dumb things. We can all agree on that. However, we're not alone when it comes to saying dumb, inconsiderate things that piss off our significant others.

We might laugh it off or not say anything about it, but there are probably plenty of times when you've said something that rubbed your guy the wrong way.

Here are just some examples of things that no guy ever wants to hear from his love interest.

7. "Your friends are dumb."

We know they're dumb. That's probably part of why we're friends with them. Odds are, we're probably pretty dumb when we're around them, because it lets us conserve effort and brainpower to further impress you. You wouldn't want us talking badly about your friends. General rule of thumb: Don't say anything about our friends that you wouldn't want said about your own friends.

6. Anything about an ex-boyfriend.

This is basic common courtesy. The first rule of courting/dating/relationship etiquette is that you never (outwardly) compare your current romantic interest to previous romantic interests. We don't want to hear about your exes, and most guys generally presume that you don't want to hear about their exes. Unless it's super important and relevant to the specific situation, please leave it in the past.

5. "You should be more like. . ."

Generally speaking, telling someone they should be more like someone else isn't very nice. When it's the person you're romantically involved with, it's even worse. You might be trying to help your man better himself, but to him it could sound like you'd rather be with the other person instead. Also, be careful about saying things like "You're just like [friend/family member]," because we're not always going to take that as a good thing, even if we like the person.

4. "Your dog smells bad."

It's bad enough to insult a dude's friends, but you should never insult his dog. It doesn't matter how stinky the dog is, you should never be the first person to mention it. Instead, suggest an awesome couple's activity like giving the dog a bath. If you get to the point where you give him the ultimatum on keeping either you or the dog, you should probably already have your stuff packed. We're not saying he'll definitely pick his canine over you, but he is going to give it a whole lot of thought.

3. "You're so immature."

Sure, maybe we listen to the same music we liked when we were 14. Or maybe we can't wait to see all 20 upcoming superhero movies in the next half-decade. We may even spend our time playing Call of Duty and wearing basketball jerseys with other men's names on the backs. That doesn't mean we're immature. Granted, we may have immature tastes, but some of us put a lot of work into being more mature than we actually want to be. You wouldn't want us calling you out on all of the things you fake, would you?

2. "My friends/family didn't like the last guy, but I'm sure they'll love you."

There's two reasons your friends and family may not have liked the last guy you introduced them to. Either he was no good, or your friends and family are going to dislike anyone you bring around. Regardless of which it was, it doesn't exactly leave us in the best situation. Unless the dude you're seeing is a total jerk, he's probably going to at least attempt to get along with your friends and family. The last thing he wants to hear is that he's already starting with a strike against him.

1. "That's it?"

It really doesn't matter what situation you say this in, it's never good. Sure, some times are worse than others (see: while naked), but expressing surprised displeasure at the amount of anything guys provide isn't going to be taken well. If we're doing something for you, even if it's not perfect, try to appreciate the good amount of thought and/or effort that went into it. This is particularly true for presents. Sometimes trying to find the right gift can feel like trying to read your mind in a foreign language.
