Pascal Cotte @ Arizona Science Center In conjunction with the Arizona Science Center's ongoing exhibit "Da Vinci - The Genius," French engineer Pascal Cotte will discuss his invention, the 240-megapixel Multi-spectral Imaging Camera, which he created in his efforts to preserve the Mona Lisa. The device allowed Cotte to scan the famed painting and reveal its many layers, as well as 25 discoveries included in the exhibit, on view through June 9.

Cotte will speak Friday, April 12, at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 13, at 10 a.m. Tickets to Friday's event range in cost from $49 to $200, while Saturday is $49.
The Third Biannual Symposium on Entrepreneurship and the Arts @ Lyceum Theatre Phoenix Urban Design Week continues this weekend with workshops, talks, and networking during the Pave Biennial Symposium on Entrepreneurship and the Arts. Ann Markusen's keynote speech begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, and will address "Entrepreneurship, the Arts, and Creative Placemaking." Things get going at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 12, and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Lyceum Theatre. Cost is $10 for students and $75 for the general public.
"The Simpsons and Other Jewish Families" @ Arizona Historical Society Museum Without a doubt, Emmy-winning Simpsons writer Mike Reiss has some stories to tell. He'll dish tales of the Bartman and Maggie-related gossip (among other cartoonish things) after screening an episode of the comedy staple. Sit on your duff and get ready for an evening of laughs beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at the Arizona Historical Society Museum. Tickets are $18 for students and $50 and up for others. Proceeds benefit ASU's Hillel Jewish Student Organization.
Ignite Phoenix #14 @ Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts First off, yeah, tickets are sold out for Ignite Phoenix #14, which takes place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Yes, total bummer. But, second, you can get on a waiting list for a chance to get into the creativity-sparking event. And, third, if that doesn't pan out, then organizers encourage that you keep tabs on the event's Facebook and Twitter pages in case extra tickets free up. Reason enough to get fired up? Uh, obviously.
"Fashion Journalism" @ Phoenix Art Museum Wall Street Journal fashion journalist Christina Binkley will discuss her latest piece about fashion's techie advances, including digital prints. Those just happen to be the subject of "Digital Print Fashion," the current fashion exhibition on view at Phoenix Art Museum. Binkley's talk begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, Admission is free.
