Steve Bass Remains In The ICU; DPS Investigation Slated For Completion In One Month

Steve Bass, the Phoenix-based artist who was involved in a head-on automobile crash with three Yavapai County Sheriff's detention officers on August 7, remains in the intensive care unit of Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix.

Bass' sister Lori Bassani tells New Times that "Steve is still critical, but making progress every day."

In the meantime, a fund to help pay for Bass' medical expenses has been established by family members. Donations can be made at any branch of Wells Fargo or Wachovia Bank; reference "Fund for the Benefit of Steven Bass' Recovery" and/or account number 5969242964.

Arizona Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Bob Bailey says that the crash report "should be completed in about one month." Impairment has been ruled out.
