41: Scott Baxter
Scott Baxter is on a mission to find 100 Arizona ranchers whose families have been in the industry for 100 years or more. He's been taking notes and large-format, black-and-white photographs while on the road (and often on the back of a horse) since 2004.
Baxter has been a professional photographer for more than 25 years. Through his current project, Baxter hopes to capture each ranch's history and lifestyle before it's lost to development or poor economy.

What was your last big project?
A six-day shoot in Southern Utah for Red Mountain Resort and Spa (pictured above).
The goal was to integrate the guests into the epic landscape that surrounds the Resort. The photography will be used for new ads and for the Resorts website. Red Mountain Spa & Resort is owned by the Desert Troon Company of Scottsdale.
What's your next big project?
The 100 Years 100 Ranchers Project is an official, "Legacy
Project" of the Arizona Centennial. I am photographing 100 Arizona
Ranchers whose families have been ranching in Arizona since 1912 or
earlier.
The project will be featured in Arizona Highways every month for a year starting with the February 2011 issue. Also, a photo essay will be published in American Cowboy Magazine in 2011 as well. The project will culminate with exhibits across the state in 2012 and the publication of a book.

Because I can't paint!
