Gwynne Sullivan is a co-founder of Bewilderknits and a Phoenix native who moved to Sunnyslope long before it was the hip thing to do.

What are you wearing right now?

A yellow singing-bird Threadless t-shirt called Ruido, blue-and-white vertically striped bellbottoms a size too large, round-toed black flats from Born, some pieces of cat fur, and a pleasant whiff of Dick's Hideaway kitchen smoke in my hair.

What is the last item of clothing you bought?

Silver jeans.

What is the item of clothing you most covet at the moment?

I want this blue and green plaid hooded coat with toggle buttons sooohoooo bad. I know it's out of season and I live in Phoenix and I have a closet full of red, green, houndstooth, and pink wool coats already, but that's so irrelevant.

Give us a childhood memory of you and clothes.

In high school, I used to wear plaid tights, green Doc Martens, a silver dragon ring from a boyfriend, and my dad's old blue-and-white plaid leisure suit jacket with a Swatch pop-watch assembled on the right collar.

Name five items every woman should have in her closet.

A chunky huge amber or turquoise ring or necklace, long dangly earrings because they feel fun bonking your cheeks and they look great, awesome trusty jeans that always work right with anything, at least one item with plaid or argyle, and a Bewilderknits accessory.

Name an item of clothing that's best when it's vintage.

Luggage! They just don't make it like they used to.

Name an item of clothing you should NEVER buy used.

Birkenstocks. They get slimy when you wear them so buying them used would be a bad idea.

What is your one piece of fashion advice for Phoenix?

Buy the awesomest pair of glasses you can find. They don't have to match everything you wear, they just have to be you and stylin'.
