Worried about draining your battery life by reading this post on your smartphone? We feel ya. Which is why we're pretty excited to hear that a Tempe-based startup is looking to change all that, with a wireless battery-charging "best friend, personal companion and butler all in one."
His name is THEO.

Established in 2013, THEO is an Arizona designer and manufacturer of mobile accessories. Earlier this year, the company launched a line of sleek but flashy mobile cases that allow users to light up their phone cases, display digital images on the back of their phone cases, and even use said phone cases to pulsate light to the rhythm of a dance party -- in other words, if you see them when they become available for purchase in June, it will no doubt be in Scottsdale.
But now the company is looking to take things one big step forward with a mobile technology that the company claims is the first of its kind.
THEO Power is a device that charges both your phone and a backup battery wirelessly through a power pad. "It's the first wireless backup battery on the market," says CEO, founder, and ASU alum Jaimie Limber.
The product, which is free from cords or bulky battery-charging phone cases and even allows customers to charge friends' phones through their own, is currently being funded through Kickstarter with a pledge goal of $25,000 by Saturday, June 7.
"The future is going wireless. From GM to Ford to Starbucks, everyone's starting to provide wireless charging stations," Limber says. "And that's why we decided to created a wireless charging system for an Apple product."
But of course, this is just the beginning for Limber and his team, who informed Jackalope Ranch that THEO plans on releasing further product extensions in the fall.
