As the holidays approach, we relish every opportunity to get bundled/gussied up and celebrate. Whether that means attending a limited screening of an indie flick or a rooftop bash, anything to get out of the house (and save moolah on those heating bills) sounds good.

For a solid weekend of going out, here are your best bets:

LBD @ The Saguaro
Think Audrey, not tawdry, when dressing for the LBD cocktail party at The Saguaro tonight at 7 p.m.

Phoenix Art Museum's fashion curator Dennita Sewell will discuss the history of the little black dress from Coco Chanel's inception, to its modern-day ubiquity. An exhibition of LBDs from Fashion by Robert Black will also be on display for the evening.

Admission is $10 at the door, and includes one cocktail. RSVP ASAP to [email protected].

Sisterzz Twisted Holiday Show @ Cash Inn Country
Local drag king troupe Sisterzz Twisted puts on its first-ever holiday-themed performance, including performances of songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas and other tunes that aren't necessarily Christmasy sung with a festive twist.  No cover. The show starts at 8 p.m. tonight, and there will be a second performance on Saturday. See details here.

Craft Rave @ Bragg's Pie Factory
This annual make-n-take marathon takes place on Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight. Crafting pros will share techniques and project ideas, while attendees receive hands-on lessons ranging from needle felting to paper art. Admission is $5, and some classes cost extra. Read more here.

TEDxScottsdale @ SMoCA
TED takes over Scottsdale on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The conference will be focused on rethinking the urban grid. Speakers include artist Angela Ellsworth and IZZE beverage company co-founder Todd Woloson. Get your tickets, which range from $11 to $16, here.

Mesa Arts Festival @ Mesa Arts Center
Stroll through downtown Mesa during this weekend's Arts Festival, and you'll get an eyeful of works from local, regional, and national artists, a display of hand-crafted wreaths, and live performances. Get a load of the holiday goodies from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. See more here.
