"Arizona Indigenous"
Prior to the white man's arrival in Sonoran Desert, indigenous groups used native plants for strictly utilitarian purposes such as housing, ladders, and security. Today, the woodturning of Arizona's indigenous plants spawns new thoughts about potential uses. Working with everything from mesquite to saguaro ribs, the brothers Moulthrop -- Philip and Matt -- carry on a family tradition of highlighting nature's beauty through finely crafted bowls and sculpture.

"Arizona Indigenous" features their work on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 North Galvin Parkway. Cinderella
A gourd getaway, custom glass pumps, and a midnight curfew that keeps you from sealing the deal with Prince Charming? We think we know where this story's going. A Disney favorite gets the Broadway treatment as Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella comes to the Valley. The touring Tony Award-winning musical features Paige Faure, Andy Huntington Jones, Kecia Lewis, Beth Glover, David Andino, Kaitlyn Davidson, Aymee Garcia, and Blake Hammond.
Cinderella will play at Gammage Auditorium, 1200 South Forest Avenue in Tempe. Roxanne Lowit
Ever heard of Roxanne Lowit? Lady wrote the book on Yves Saint Laurent. Or, we should probably say, she shot the book on Yves Saint Laurent, the late and great couturier. Lowit, a renowned fashion photographer, will discuss her her book chronicling the last 25 years of Yves' career (complete with contributions from Grace Jones, Jerry Hall, and Paloma Picasso) during a midday gathering hosted by Arizona Costume Institute, an organization that serves to support fashion programming at Phoenix Art Museum.

Voyage Trekkers
Captain's log, space date 3.12.2015: It would seem our ship, the G.S.V. Remarkable, has crashed in a strange, barren land known as "Phoenix." The locals seem to harbor delusions that I, Captain Jack Sunstrike, and my crew are not only characters in an award-winning, locally produced comedy web series called Voyage Trekkers, but that we're well-known as the worst crew in the entire Galactic Union! I'll prove them wrong by screening recordings of every one of our adventures, Prime Directive be damned.

Scottsdale Arts Festival
Looking for something less green and beer-ridden to do this St. Patrick's Day weekend? Equally rooted in tradition, the Scottsdale Arts Festival returns this weekend, celebrating its 45th year.
Nearly 200 local and national artists will be showcased, while an auction takes place simultaneously online. The art walk features live and interactive art, performances by 20 local bands, and food trucks, including The Maine Lobster Lady, Paletas Betty, and Short Leash Hot Dogs -- now with doughnuts.
The three-day fair starts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 13.
