It's Monday morning and my inbox is way out of control with reminders, announcements, pdf fliers and press releases all about this upcoming weekend.

It's gonna be a big one, chickens.

But I want to be sure to point out the 50th anniversary celebration for the Phoenix Art Museum, happening this Friday, December 4th.

Now, here at the New Times, we've relied on the Phoenix Art Museum to act as the hub of this city's art scene. Whether our critics have bashed or celebrated the shows there, we're thankful for the work they do. After all, it's all a part of a greater dialogue and the conversation wouldn't be the same without them.

So, personally, I'm pumped for PAM. They should be proud of this milestone. And, lucky for us, they're throwing a big party.

First off, the free event is open to the public. PAM invites all walks of life to celebrate with food, drink (there will be original cocktails by Maker's Mark and Honest Tea is providing drinks for the sober ones), live music and access to all of the Museum's galleries.

Guests will also see the debut of 50 new, donated works acquired in honor of the anniversary. The collection includes pieces by Andy Warhol, James Turrell, Phillip C. Curtis, Judith Leiber and Chado Ralph Rucci.
