For those who don't have glimpses into their pasts of singing along to "Champagne Supernova" during a smoke sesh, or at least know of the legends, here's a quick back-story: After Noel Gallagher split from Oasis in '09, Liam Gallagher and the other bandmates formed Beady Eye, which has been held in high regard by fans.
Recently, Noel released premiered the first single and video from his solo project, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (the name is an homage to Fleetwood Mac and Jefferson Airplane). The single "The Death Of You and Me" is from an album due out in November, and has also been well received by fans and critics.
I like Oasis, Beady Eye retains Liam's Beatles fixation. Of course, Liam certainly hasn't left behind the boisterous proclamations of his bast, stating that Beady Eye will be "fucking massive." The songs waver between stripped-down rock and jazzy dubstep fusion, and there's a glimmer of joyful spirit that seemed to be missing in Oasis' past few records.
On the other hand, Noel weaves bouncy rhythms and quasi-Western tones, and although High Flying Birds departs from the Britpop playbook, you can tell he clearly took some of the Oasis' unfinished business with him.
