​In Arizona, we don't really get seasons. Phoenix weather is a wide swing between Satan's sweltering nether-regions and a slight chill. The only real way to indicate the passing of the seasons is with local music, wherein Phoenix's best release a cornucopia (sorry) of music come autumn (or at least that's the way it seems given this local jam roundup). 

Here are a few fresh local releases to get you in the mood for turkey, cranberry sauce and... paper hand turkeys. 

Mergence - "Harvest"

They seriously released a song called "Harvest" in the fall, and somehow the cheese factor totally works in their favor. The Tempe-based classic rock worshipers take on their trademark twist of Cold War Kids spunk, blues rock and social commentary.

Future Loves Past - "Earth" 

From their late September self-titled EP, "Earth" lives up to its name with organic, chime-y sounds and Modest Mouse-style quirks.

Miniature Tigers - "Boomerang"

Can we still call these guys local? They're off playing huge shows like CMJ and dividing their time between New York and Los Angeles, but they got their start here. "Boomerang," technically released in late August, is off their upcoming 2012 record Mia Pharaoh. So, meeting somewhere in the middle of the two release dates, this is totally a fall song. It rekindles the Mini Tigers of yore, focusing more on catchy pop hooks than the acid-tripping adventures of Fortress. 

Ladylike - "Cinema Kiss" 

These guys just released their new EP by the same name November 1. The two song EP gives us a taste of the approachable, mildly anthemic pop rock perspective Ladylike does best. 

Black Carl - "Become My Hallucination" 

Really, when is Black Carl not releasing new music. This October release sexifies their blues rock sound as singer Emma Pew moans and groans with spooky appeal.

The Whisperlights - "Castanets" 

Typically caught up in straight up rock n' roll, The Whisperlights take on a beachy perspective, soaking in the sun and watching waves crash. It kind of makes you forget we live in a land locked state. 

Weird Ladies - "At the Door Step" 

From their brand new EP, Each and Every One of Your Limbs, Weird Ladies certainly keep it weird with this Arctic Monkeys-inspired garage rocker. 

The Through and Through Gospel Review - "I'm Not Dead, But Alive"

Joel Marquard, former Dear and the Headlights guitarist and current Gospel Claws songwriter, takes a break from his typical folk rock love to take on the world of gospel, even if he isn't religious.
