In March, Conspire coffee shop closed down, got a face lift, and then re-opened as a downtown art gallery and vegan cafe. There have been growing pains, for sure -- the cafe still doesn't have regular, set hours (don't expect to ever find the door open before noon), there have been scarce live shows booked, and the boutique area's been way downsized. But recently, the hipster hangout's been getting back on track with great live shows featuring cool local bands.
On Friday, July 15, Conspire will host three Phoenix acts: indie rockers Born Loser and the Hangers On, folk pop group Skinny Shamans, and Formally Wrong.
Skinny Shamans are a six-piece band that mixes dreamy folk-pop guitars and forlorn vocals with catchy dance beats and melodic keyboard hooks. Hear some of their tunes below.
Formally Wrong is the wild card on the bill, as we couldn't find any kind of web presence for them whatsoever. But hey, surprises can be cool.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Conspire, 901 N. Fifth Street. Admission is free.
