Del the Funky Homosapien, perhaps best known as the rapper behind trip hop's Gorillaz, is giving his music away left and right. Like some kind of mad used car salesman. His prices are so non-existent that he's crazy. No, clinically insane. Give this dude a psychiatric test.

First, the 15 year rap vet started out by giving 2009's Funk Man (The Stimulus Package) away for free on his official web site. Then, he used Radiohead's pay-what-you-want method for his 2010 record, It Ain't Illegal Yet. Now, he's coming to Tempe to perform an entirely free show at Marquee Theatre September 16 as part of his Funk for Free Tour. But why?

We're not really sure, actually. We searched for an explanation, only to run into dead ends. Not that we're complaining.

Del will be joined by Bukue One, DJ Zac Hendrix and Serendipity Project. You must be over 21 to get into the show for free. Free tickets are first come, first served at Marquee Theatre on September 16.

You can pay money, if you insist. VIP tickets are $50 and include a meet and greet and tour t-shirt. The cost of reserving a free ticket (Rather, not standing in the baking sun before show time) is $5. (Correction: This is for those under 21 only.) So, it's totally like a free show you pay for.
