The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is hosting its induction ceremony tonight.
Too bad you can only watch it if you get the Fuse channel, or if you happen to be at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
The list of inductees this year is diverse, and will feature performers being inducted by younger musicians who play a similar style of music. Word on the street seems to be that people are awfully excited about ABBA, claiming the recognition is far overdue, even though they were only eligible as of two years ago.
While Genesis will be there receiving honors, Peter Gabriel will not be in attendance this evening, as he'll be on tour to support his latest album.
Little Steven of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and host of
the nationally syndicated garage rock radio program, Little Steven's
Underground Garage will be inducting British invasion group The
Hollies. Reggae musician Jimmy Cliff will be receiving the
honors from Wyclef, and Iggy Pop's punk rock pioneering
band The Stooges will be inducted by Green Day's Billie
Joe Armstrong.
The list of non-performers being inducted this
year actually outweighs the list of performers who will receive
recognition this evening. Carol King will be presenting to all of
the non-performers this year, most notably David Geffen of
Asylum Records and the Geffen Records label.
While almost no one
will actually have the resources or capability to watch the ceremony, we
can only hope that someone will post the end of the night obligatory
medley on YouTube so we can catch the highlights.
