If you're looking for something to do in and around Old Town tonight (or this weekend for that matter), be sure to pick up a copy of our annual Shine pocket guide to Scottsdale, which is helpfully inserted into this week's issue of the Phoenix New Times. If that doesn't slake your thirst for after-dark entertainment, try heading over to Indian Plaza later tonight, where Smashboxx will be holding its official launch party.

The lounge and video bar is the brainchild of promoter Chad Landau (and a few other expats from Pussycat Lounge) and is located in the spot most recently vacated by Howl at the Moon piano club.

They're apparently planning on kicking ass right from the get go: Tonight's party, which also serves as a debut for Smashboxx's Thursday night Boom Boom Room weekly, will feature a return appearance by local turntable titan DJ Fashen, who left the Valley last year for greener pastures in El Lay.

Landau and company will also kick things up a notch when they launch their weekly industry night this Tuesday with an appearance by LMFAO and Sin City spinster Sid Vicious (not to be confused with the pro wrestler or late punk great).

You can peep more details about either event over on Smashboxx's Facebook page.
