Dominck Hernandez is a senior business major from ASU's Polytechnic campus, and he was recognized for founding student groups for sustainability and leadership and success, as well as his activism in protesting the university's budget cuts...Chad Biggs, the Gilbert police officer who shot a man during a scuffle in August, has been demoted. Biggs was reprimanded for approaching two people for a minor crime while off-duty, and for not having the equipment to prevent use of deadly force. Biggs began his new job as a 911 dispatcher on January 4...A bank robbery task force has arrested a man known as the "Band-Aid Bandit." The so-called bandit, Samuel Cresante, was arrested Friday in Phoenix. He's accused of robbing numerous Valley banks, including locations in Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Mesa, Gilbert, and Phoenix...
A Colorado man who went looking for the Lost Dutchman gold mine in Arizona has gone missing. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has been conducting searches for Jesse Capen, 35, since his Jeep was discovered near Old Tortilla Ranch on December 20, but so far have found no trace of him...Police were on the scene of a barricade early this morning, at a strip club near 28th avenue and Indian School Road. According to police, a man who was a patron at the club pulled a gun and fired several shots. It appears no one was injured, and the other patrons escaped. As of this writing, police said the situation was over, but did not say how it ended...More than 30,000 people participated in the P.F. Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Marathon yesterday, from downtown Phoenix to Tempe. The marathon is the largest single-day marathon and half-marathon in the United States.
