A wanted sex offender was arrested last week doing exactly what you might expect a wanted sex offender to be doing: hangin' out near an elementary school.

The U.S. Marshal's Office got a tip last week that Michael Jack Owl, a 37-year-old fugitive, who failed to register as a sex offender, was living in central Phoenix.

Owl served time in a Utah prison for a sex crime that involved him and two girls under the age of 12 -- we'll leave it at that.

The marshals searched for Owl for two days before tracking him to Solano Park near 15th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, where he was found just hangin' out.

Solano Park is directly across the street from Solano Elementary School. Hanging out near elementary schools is a no-no for convicted sex criminals.

He was arrested and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.
