The parents of a 14-year-old Phoenix girl have been arrested after the girl escaped from a bathroom-turned-dungeon, where she was kept for nearly two months.

The girl was kept in the dungeon as punishment for stealing food, according to Phoenix's Fox affiliate, KSAZ.

The details of the girl's captivity are pretty gruesome, and she only escaped the bathroom after crawling through a linen closet, climbing into an attic crawl space, kicking out a loose board, and running out the back door.

Apparently, the girl's father and stepmother, Scott and Andrea Bass, forced the girl to exercise until exhaustion, beat her with belts and metal rods, and pulled her up by her hair if she stopped exercising.

The girl says she was given food -- crackers, bread, and some canned foods -- every few days, hardly enough to sustain the body of a teenager..

After the girl's escape on January 24, she went to the house of a neighbor, who called police.

When police got to the house, they questioned the parents, who allowed them into the place. When police opened the bathroom door, which was locked from the outside, the parents were surprised to see the girl not there.

What was there, according to KSAZ, was a bucket full of urine, a blanket, and some empty cans of food.

After further investigation, police discovered that the girl was often forced to sleep outside in the summer, and locked in a dark closet.

Andrea Bass, according to KSAZ, admitted to the allegations against her, saying she wants nothing to do with the victim.

We have a feeling that after facing the court system gets through with her, she won't have to worry about that.

On February 4, Scott and Andrea Bass were arrested on the following charges: unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping, failure to report neglect of a minor, and child abuse.
