Have you forgotten about the illegal campaign donation that caused Sheriff Joe Arpaio's politically minded employee, Captain Joel Fox, to get slapped with a $315,000 fine?

We're pretty sure it's at the forefront of Fox's mind.

That's a pretty big chunk of change for a mid-level county employee, and we wonder how in the world he's going to pay it. Maybe Fox will have to declare bankruptcy. Or maybe the people who bankrolled the $105,000 illegal donation will slip him the money -- duly recording the gift with the Department of Revenue, naturally.

Of course, the captain still has a shot at an appeal.

New Times has learned his appeal hearing is set for February 4 at 10 a.m. in the state Office of Adminstrative Hearings, 1400 West Washington, Suite 101.

The hearing is open to the public, in case anyone wants to see firsthand whether Fox will be able to escape the six-digit penalty. If you miss it, look to this blog for what happens.
