Cops, firefighters, employees of the Medical Examiner's Office, and other people stood near the Forensic Science Center at Seventh Avenue and Jefferson Street, as plain white van after plain white van passed by.

As autopsies on the 19 firefighters -- who were members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots -- are going to be performed in Phoenix, crews are still battling the uncontained fire in Yarnell and nearby Peeples Valley, which already has destroyed homes and other structures.

It's not yet clear exactly how the 19 firefighters got caught in the blaze. Authorities have said that all 19 deployed individual fire shelters, which are supposed to be used as a "last resort" for wildland firefighters.
