The editor of the Arizona Capitol Times has resigned in what the Arizona Guardian news site calls a "shake-up" of the newspaper's management staff.

Matt Bunk joined the Cap Times in December 2007 after leaving the financially challenged East Valley Tribune. His exodus comes just two months after the departure of his assistant, Bill Bertolino (also a former Tribber) who was hired on at the Guardian in late November.

If Guardian scribe Dennis Welch knows why Bunk left, he didn't mention it in his article today. But Welch points out that Bunk is leaving just as the State Legislature goes back in session.

On his Facebook page, Bunk states in a short post that he:

Just wanted to break the news that I have resigned from the Cap Times to pursue new opportunities. I wish everyone there the best. Its been my pleasure.

If your phone call to the Capitol Times goes unanswered this week, it's probably because the remaining staff is a bit busy...
