Cinco de Mayo: 10 Food and Drink Specials in Metro Phoenix

Every Tuesday is a good excuse to crush some Mexican beer and tacos. But tomorrow it's not only Taco Tuesday, it's also Cinco de Mayo -- a holiday that might not mean much in Mexico, but has become a widely-accepted excuse to get drunker than usual in the middle of the week.

So, to help you celebrate Cinco de Drinko as cheaply as possible we've rounded up ten food and drink deals available on Tuesday, May 5 around metro Phoenix. Cheers.

Joyride Taco House

Both the Phoenix and Gilbert locations of Joyride Taco House will be serving up $2 tacos in the following varieties: carne asada,The Standard, carnitas, pork adobada, veggie, and crispy fish. To wash it down the restaurants will also be pouring $5 margaritas and Mexican beer pitchers, with margaritas coming in a variety of flavors including blood orange, cucumber-Serrano, watermelon, mango-mandarin, prickly pear, and pineapple mojito. The taco special runs from 2 to 11 p.m. and the drink specials will be available from 2 to 6 p.m.

Tapacubo

Tapacubo at the Graduate Tempe hotel will be offering Corona Sunrise cocktails made with Casa Noble tequila, grenadine, and orange juice as well as house margaritas for $4 on Cinco de Mayo. The restaurant will also have $2 Mexican draft beers. Food specials will include $2 tacos, and to complete the festivities Tapacubo will host a $1 raffle with prizes including a one-night stay at the hotel and Arizona Diamondbacks tickets.

Sierra Bonita Grill

Head to Sierra Bonita Grill in north Phoenix on Cinco de Mayo to get $5 made-to-order margaritas from open to close. The restaurant's house margaritas feature reposado tequila, orange liqueur, fresh squeezed lime juice, and agave nectar, while the pomegrante option (also only $5 tomorrow) is made with pomegranate liqueur, reposado tequila, orange liqueur, a splash of orange juice, and homemade sweet and sour mix.

Z'Tejas

On Tuesday all Valley locations of Z'Tejas will be offering .55 cent tacos, $5 6th Street and Chambord margaritas, and Coronas for $2 each. The taco deal will be available from 3 to 6 p.m. and drink deals will be available all day.

Milagro Grill

In Arcadia Milagro Grill will be pouring $4 house margaritas on Cinco de Mayo, in addition to offering half off all tequila flights. And if you want something solid to go with your booze, try the restaurant's special $10 three-taco plate, which comes with a house margarita.

Otro Cafe

Tomorrow chef Doug Robson's Otro Cafe will host an all-day happy hour from 11 a.m. to close at 9 p.m. Deals will include happy hour prices on specialty Mexican cocktails, aguas frescas, margaritas, and beer -- and margaritas pitchers will be added to the list for the day at $2 off. Tacos will also be $1 off and the restaurant will have a special dish for the day: Cinco de Nachos, a heaping plate of chips topped with Oaxaca cheddar cheese, refried beans, carne asada, jalapeno relish, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo.

SumoMaya

Starting at 11 a.m. on May 5, SumoMaya in Scottsdale will offer several drink specials including all day happy hour pricing at the bar and $5 Casamigos Tequila margaritas. As a bonus, the first t 100 people who bring at least five pesos can pay for their Casamigos Margarita with Mexican currency (limit two per person).

Los Sombreros

Both the original Scottsdale and North Scottsdale locations of Los Sombreros will be offering Cinco de Mayo deals including watermelon, cucumber, and grapefruit-strawberry margaritas for $5 and crispy taco platters including four flavors of tacos (potato, hibiscus, beef picadillo, and smoked chicken tacos with guacamole) for $9.95.

Taco Guild

Central Phoenix can celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Taco Guild, where the day's deals will include $1.55 Cinco de Mayo Tequila Pork tacos, $2 Pacifico and Dos Equis Lagers, and $5 for a 1893 margarita and a Cinco de Mayo Tequila Pork taco. All deals will be available all day.

Paul Martin's American Grill

Tomorrow Paul Martin's American Grill in Scottsdale will celebrate Cinco de Mayo by rolling out a new Taco Tuesday menu that includes $2 shredded beef, pork chili verde, and grilled salmon tacos, all of which come served on homemade corn tortillas. The new weekly menu will also include $4 Dos Equis and Coronas and $5 raspberry-infused and classic margaritas. Both are made with Zapapan Tequila and housemade sweet and sour.
