Bar Flies: Eating Christmas 
Tonight 

Head to Valley Bar in downtown Phoenix tonight to catch New Times' third annual Eating Christmas, a night full of tales of the winter holidays, and food. Part of the monthly reading series, Bar Flies, tonight's event will feature stories by Tricia Parker, Robrt Pela, Amy Silverman, Amy Young, and Joy Young. Amy Silverman is curating and music will be provided by Kevin Vaughn-Brubaker. Doors to the event open at 6 p.m. and the readings start at 7 p.m.Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased online. A portion of proceeds will go to St. Mary's Food Bank.

Speakeasy Night 
Tonight

DeSoto Central Market in downtown Phoenix might host Speakeasy Night every third Thursday of the month, but tonight's edition is going to be something a little special. The evening will feature old fashioned cocktails (including, you know, the Old Fashioned) and music by Upper East Side Big Band — and since 'tis the season, they'll be playing holiday music all night long. If you don't know how to swing dance, be sure to be there by 8:15 for a short introductory lesson. There's no cover charge for the event. For more information check the Facebook event page. 

Gingerbread Workshop
Friday, December 18

Maybe this event at the Children's Museum of Phoenix is intended for kids. So what? Technically it's open to all ages and for $35 for non-members or $30 for members you and three friends can dec out a gingerbread house — and not have to clean up any of the mess. The museum will provide everything from the gingerbread to the candy buffet and even hot chocolate. All you have to do is show up and let your creative juices flow. Uptown Farmers Market Neighborhood Chef Series
Saturday, December 19 

This weekend chefs Paul Hamernik and chef Aaron Chamberlin of St. Francis will be at Uptown Farmers Market in central Phoenix for the Uptown Farmers Market Neighborhood Chef Series. The cooking demonstration kicks off at 9 a.m. and both chefs will use Arizona products to make simple, delicious bites for attendees. Holiday Tea 
Sunday, December 20

The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park will host a holiday tea this Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. For $25 for adults and $15 for children ages thee to 12, attendees can celebrate the season with finger sandwiches, scones with lemon curd, crème and preserves, and miniature pastries.
