Remember the other day, when you were like, "I wish there were more dining options on Seventh Street and Missouri Avenue"?
Well, good news, everyone.
Evening Entertainment Group, the Arizona-based crew you can thank for concepts like The Mint, RnR, Stock & Stable, and Hi Fi Kitchen + Cocktails, is at it again with a space on the west side of Seventh Street. Casa Añejo Tacos and Tequila is slated to open on — when else? — May 5, and will serve lunch, dinner, and, on weekends, that classic Latin American staple: brunch.
Employing an in-house mixologist (as one must these days), Casa Añejo will make good on its promise of tequila. As for the taco part, executive chef Joe Absolor will execute classic Mexican dishes with modern touches, inspired by the owners' travels abroad. Local favorites Schreiner's Sausage will make appearances on the menu, near almost-local dishes like Tlayuda, a Oaxacan-style tostada. Perhaps the most unique element of Casa Añejo, though, will be its stand-alone "curbside kitchen," a wood-fired grill that serves to-go tacos, Sonoran hot dogs, canned beer, and bottled soda.
All of this prompts just one question: Will it be Instagram-worthy? Don't worry. HGTV personality and professional designer Allison Victoria is at the helm of the visuals, and surely she is drawing from her experience as host of the network's Kitchen Crashers. The venue promises custom artwork, an interesting mix of design elements (such as Mexican tile work and Pierre Frey fabrics), and a host stand that will knock everyone's calcetines off.
