Stan Lee is Coming to Ace Comic Con in Glendale

Good news, true believers: Legendary comic book creator and all-around geek icon Stan Lee is heading back to the Valley. And he’ll be surrounded by the actors and actresses who have brought his characters to life on the silver screen.

Lee, the mind behind such iconic Marvel Comics superheroes as Spider-Man and the X-Men, is scheduled to appear at Ace Comic Con in mid-January at Gila River Arena in Glendale.

'Nuff said.

Organizers of the three day geek convention – which will take place from Saturday, January 13, to Monday, January 15 – announced news of Lee’s appearance on Wednesday, November 2.

Lee will join the event’s Marvel-heavy lineup of special guests, which already such Marvel Cinematic Universe actors as Chris Evans (Captain America), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier).
According to Ace Comic Con’s organizers, Lee will be available for paid photo ops along with Evans and Holland. He’ll also participate in a Q&A session hosted by onetime Marvel artists (and Spawn creator) Todd McFarlane.

Lee’s contributions to the Marvel Comics canon and his influence on geekdom and pop-culture as a whole are enormous.

During his stint with Marvel as a writer and editor, he co-created any number of legendary heroes and villains along with Steve Ditko and the late Jack Kirby, including the Fantastic Four, Hulk, the X-Men, Iron Man, Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Black Panther. He also helped popularize the notion of a “shared universe” in comics.

Lee’s previous visits to the Valley took place at Phoenix Comicon in 2011 and 2014. Due to his age, the 94-year-old has limited his convention appearances the last few years.

All the more reason to attend Ace Comic Con in January.
