http://www.myspace.com/famoussamsglendale Featuring darts, pool tables, poker nights, hot wings and more, this Famous Sam's westside hangout is the stomping grounds for cheery neighborhood locals just wantin' to relax with a brewski and watching the latest sports action on multiple high-definition TVs. A variety of live music and DJ nights also keep the joint jumping throughout the week, including rock bands and hip-hop nights on Saturdays. A weekly karaoke night every Sunday may even arouse the singer in you -- after a few drinks, of course. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.fattuesdaytempe.com This New Orleans-themed drinkery located along Mill Avenue brings in college students by the dozens on Friday and Saturday nights. Some visit for the dope DJ lineup or to bump their humps on the dance floor, while most come for a taste of the bar's infamous wall of frozen daiquiris. From the "Pirates Pleasure" (Captain Morgan's and fruit punch) to old favorites like Sex on the Beach, these concoctions are distributed by model-quality bartenders from a row of silver, slushie-like machines lining the back of the bar. http://www.fatsospizza.com Looks can be deceiving. What should be a run-of-the-mill pizza joint situated in a North Phoenix strip mall is actually a large music venue with a full bar, pool table, eclectic menu, and big family crowds. As its name portends, the food and drink selection is fat with 20 different Italian pies and a beer selection that includes imports like Stella Artois and Foster's and craft brews like Stone's Arrogant Bastard Ale. Meanwhile, Fatso's live music offerings are mostly of the low-key acoustic and folk variety, with musicians like Smoot Mahooty and The Blenderz hitting the stage on weekend nights. Thursday's open mic session, however, is far from subdued, with patrons loudly singing along with the performers. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.fibbermageespub.com Owned by the same lads that operate the Skeptical Chymist, Fibbers is also a popular Irish pub of the traditional bent. Its authenticity extends beyond just having Guinness and Harps on tap and the Jameson's behind the bar, however, as the place is loaded with Celtic curiosities aplenty (from antique cigarette signs to various and sundry trinkets). It also prides itself on filling patrons with "craic," a term straight from the Emerald Isle describing an uproarious vibe, much like what you might witness on any given night when live music and ample drink specials are offered. Bonus -- there's a real chef in the kitchen, cranking out some truly top-notch cuisine. This is way better than average pub grub, with silky smoked salmon, homemade brown and soda breads, fresh grilled fish, and an incredible shepherd's pie. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
The Fieldhouse has more than just a clever name. Surrounded by fields, this sports bar on Val Vista and Ray is a hub for folks in the 'burbs to order up beers and snack on fried appetizers. The bar features live music and karaoke on a stage in the corner a few nights a week, and is even kind enough to offer free rides home according to a sign on the stage. The best part of the bar is the arcade selection, with vintage games like Double Dragon and Blitz glowing by the pool tables in the side room. With coin-eaters like that and plenty of brews at the ready, it's a good thing the bar stays open 'til 2 a.m. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.thefilmbarphx.com FilmBar doesn't just have the lock down on the hippest indie and foreign film screenings. The theater's lounge is a fully functioning bar, featuring DJs, live music and a carefully selected menu of import and domestic beers. Standard brews have no place in the bar, which favors full bodied dark beers and tasty pints of Boddingtons. The entertainment tends to be as eclectic as the movies, with ensembles like Haunted Cologne (polka-punk) taking the stage, and DJs offering up world-music cuts. The bar's Middle Eastern decor is perfect for kicking back, either in the high backed couches or on the floor, beanbag style. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.ilovefirehouse.com The vibe at the rampantly popular spot The Firehouse Bar & Grill spot undergoes a rather startling transformation as daylight slips into darkness. On late weekday afternoons, the kitchen at kitchen crafts a line-up of hearty bar food standards like grilled Guinness bratwursts with caramelized onions on pretzel buns, while such brunch-worthy options as Cinnabon French toast go quickly on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Come nightfall, however, this Old Town Scottsdale party pen is instead cooking up epic nightly ragers. Its walls containing collages of vintage beer cans start shaking as electronic dance music thunders and The Firehouse becomes such a crowded house that inebriated revelers rock out upon its couches. Its enough to make you want to make like Ludacris and start shouting “Get out the way!” in order to snag a cocktail. Luckily, there’s a second bar in the back, as well as an exit to the patio, just in case you need some breathing room. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
The luxurious lounge-like lobby of the FireSky in Scottsdale makes for one of Old Town's best people-watching spots. Dames are dressed to the nines, relaxing on high-backed ivory couches while other well-heeled ladies in Christian Louboutin shoes slip past, schlepping shopping bags from the nearby Barneys. Meanwhile, the men and women behind the glowing bar show off their mad mixology skills for scenesters, whipping up precision cocktails. The lobby is almost a work of art in and of itself, populated by vintage-looking wingback chairs, animal print rugs, and ghostly illuminated deer heads. The elegant outdoor lounge offers the chance to drink underneath the stars -- or even with them, as celebs have been known to frequent the bar while staying at the resort. http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/locations/az/scottsdale There are steakhouses and then there's Fleming's, where it's what's served on either side of the meat menu that makes all the difference. Which isn't to say that the steaks and chops and burgers grilled here aren't to die for; they are. We love the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Burger, for all of the obvious reasons (salty and spicy; crispy and creamy!). The Blue-cheesy and Parmesan-peppered mashed potatoes are out favorite side with any of the magnificent steaks, all prime cut and cooked precisely to order by folks who know their meat. When we think steak and burgers served right, we always think Fleming's. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com There's a word for Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Winebar, and that word is classy. The wine selection is expansive, overseen by curator Marian Jansen op de Haar, who has put together a selection of more than 100 wines, available by the taste, glass, flight, or bottle. The class even extends to the towelettes in the bathroom, embroidered with the Fleming insignia. The Chandler location's décor and vicinity to Ahwatukee attracts the Valley's elite, as well as fine-dining tourists. Your best bet to get in is to show up sometime between 5 and 7 p.m., when you can watch a sophisticated crowd show off its cunning as it procures seats for the bar's 5-6-7 happy hour, and the menu offers martinis, wine, and appetizers for just $6. The value of the deal is impressive and worth the potential wait. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.flickasbajacantina.com Walk into Flicka's and you just might mistake the place for some beachside cantina in Cabo San Lucas instead of a roadside cantina in south Scottsdale. The lively wooden outdoor patio caters to laid-back lovers of Mexican beer, and chips and salsa. Inside, there is a bit more of a Scottsdale flair -- barstools covered in velvet leopard print, DJs and live bands entertaining the drunken masses, and a couple bars stocked with everything from apple-tinis to margaritas. When it comes to neighborhood drinking dens that pack a punch, Four Kings Cocktail Lounge has an uppercut. Former Phoenix super bantamweight boxer Johnny "The Torch" Vasquez is a regular here, strolling the bar with drink in hand - the onetime champ now happy to play the host of toasts. With a crock-pot, microwave, and coffee pot on the counter behind the bar and the number for a nearby pizza joint taped to the wall, this homey hideout is beloved by its regulars (a scrapbook-like sign touting the joint's greatness hangs in the hallway). In a crazy-clean atmosphere amid wood paneling and the sounds of classic country coming from the jukebox, pool tables, TVs, and video games are offered in addition to cheap drinks and good conversation. The barkeep is quick to extend a handshake to newbies before their asses hit the stool and the locals are equally as hospitable - offering smiles, nods, and invitations to peruse the boxes of VHS movies in the corner (three for $1). http://www.fourpeaks.com The building that houses Four Peaks Brewery was once home to a dairy. That was a long time ago, though. This Tempe institution has been serving food and handcrafted suds in their unique 1892 Mission-style warehouse since 1996. Four Peaks' popularity has grown over the years, which is why you'll likely be halted at the door by business-like hostesses on any weekend night. Even with the expansion of the indoor dining room, it's still packed. Four Peaks is a well-regarded brewer with an extensive bottling operation, and you can try all eight of their year-round beers on tap at all times, along with whatever seasonal brew hasn't yet been chugged down by growler-wielding die-hards. The place is always bustling during happy hour, but half-off beers make it worth the wait. Bar food aplenty and scads of flat-screens let you watch the game inside, and the shady patio is perfect for outside day-drinking before the masses show up. http://www.foxandhound.com Whereas many sports bars might cater to followers of a specific NFL team, the Fox and Hound is the gridiron equivalent of the United Nations. Inside this pigskin paradise, Cardinals fans share tables with Bears backers while Broncos boosters sit side-by-side with Eagles aficionados at the bar. This all-inclusive atmosphere will also appeal to fantasy football nuts looking for a neutral site to track stats and update their teams via the free Wi-Fi access. The joint is also packed with a bountiful amount of billiards tables and two separate bars, each of which offer more than two dozen microbrews and the usual assortment of imports and domestics. And on Tuesdays, every single draft beer in the house is only $2.25 a pint. Now there's a way to shake off those early-week blues. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
