http://www.okelleysbar.com A touch of the Irish in south Mesa, O'Kelley's is a dark-wooden pub that boasts 50-plus televisions, a regular gaggle of bar patrons, a pool table, darts, golf arcade and full menu. It also hosts local rock bands Fridays and Saturdays and karaoke Mondays and Thursdays. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.rtosullivans.com R.T. O'Sullivan's has the scariest bathroom in town, and it's perfectly clean. Spoiler alert: When ladies are washing their hands, a giant leprechaun sometimes lights up behind the mirror. It is a gag that leaves many people screaming, and it's all part of the fun at this friendly Irish pub and restaurant. Regulars come for the weekday happy hours offering $1 off wine, wells and beer, along with half-priced appetizers from 3 to 6 p.m. R.T.O. also offers trivia games, poker tournaments, and more than 80 televisions to watch a game. Chow down on two-for-one burgers on Tuesdays, when there is also competitive pub trivia, or go native with corned beef and fish sandwiches. The place also features karaoke every Thursday and screens pay-per-views from the UFC and WWE every month. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
Oceans Seven is the latest identity of a Scottsdale spot that has been hosting hip-hop hootenannies and Latin nights for more than a decade. In the late '90s, it was known as CBNC, a major hot spot that earned a serious reputation as a place to spy such celebs as Busta Rhymes, Beyoncé, 50 Cent, and Britney Spears. And though the name has changed, its game remains the same. Its still a prime place for high-volume partying, offering three distinct rooms with separate bars and dance floors, as well as a variety of VIP areas. Oceans Seven boasts a thunderous sound system that pounds out plenty of beats, including mixes of glammy R&B, high-energy street rap, old school jams, and hot reggae riddims. The typical crowd here skews toward urban club types and stylishly refined folks opening their wallets for premium bottles and champagne. In addition to the bubbly, tequila shots and mixed drinks with generous amounts of vodka are some of the preferred fuels for those engaging in nighttime fun. http://www.oggis.com North Glendale doesn’t have much to boast – that is, except for Oggi’s Pizza & Brewing Co. Located just north of the 101 on 67th Avenue and Beardsley Road, this bar and restaurant brews its own beer on the premises. The California-based brewery has earned over 40 medals in international, national, and regional competitions, so drinkers can’t go wrong with any of their varieties. A popular option is the Sunset Amber Ale, a darker and richer brew with a clean, dry finish, but the most decorated is the Black Magic Stout, a full-bodied brew with rich malty flavor and plenty of roasted barley character, which won gold at the 2010 World Beer Cup. Oggi’s also has an extensive menu of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, appetizers, pasta, chicken entrées, and fish n’ chips. Best of the bunch, however, are the pizzas. There are 12 combinations to choose from, including North Shore (Hawaiian style) and Slam Dunk (Buffalo chicken). Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.oldtowntavernaz.com Coming across Old Town Tavern is like discovering a hidden clubhouse. Ensconced among a shopping complex, eateries, and apartments, an fireplace warms patrons hanging out amid the wood and brick expanse of the Tavern, and the sound of an acoustic duo playing songs by The Who greets the ears. Climb the stairs to the crow's nest and you'll get a lush view of the plaza's fountains and grass knoll, while inside you can check out the historical black-and-white photos of Scottsdale that line the walls. Shelves stocked with boutique beer bottles, whiskey, and assorted liquors stretch to the roof, and the bartender's cheery smile accompanies strong pours. A sign reading "Tact is for people who aren't witty enough to act sarcastic," hangs in the corner, but the sentiment conveyed by the homey atmosphere feels entirely genuine. http://www.oldtowntortillafactory.com Gorgeous, Southwestern-themed hacienda-like restaurant featuring a tequileria with more than 100 types of distilled agave juice, and a vast, elegant patio with a captivating, flame-spitting waterfall. The food ain't too shabby, either. The gourmet, house-made tortillas are some of the best in the Valley, and there are various, mouth-watering items on the bill of fare, such as the red chile pork chop, the pollo margarita, and the Shawnee sea bass. The kind of place you take someone you want to impress with the holy trifecta of great ambiance, fantastic food and superior service. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
Despite its proximity to Old Town, there's no glitz or glamour at On The Rocks. Therein lies its allure. Hidden away in a corner of the Wilshire Plaza strip mall, this dank dive looks like it was cut and pasted straight out of one of Charles Bukowski's poems. There's kitschy décor on the walls, cheap hooch, and a colorful cadre of regulars. There's no happy hour to speak of - mainly because the drinks are reasonably priced to begin with. A domestic pint (no imports or microbrews on tap here, thank you very much) will only set you back $2.25. Well drinks are just three bucks and $4 will get you a small pitcher of beer. There's also no food, although affable daytime bartenders like Purple (so named for her proclivity for wearing shirts of the same color) can usually be persuaded to nuke a bag of microwave popcorn to keep your munchies at bay. http://www.fourseasons.com/scottsdale/dining/onyx_bar_lounge/ The proprietors of the Onyx Bar & Lounge should charge admission, because their lustrous establishment boasts awe-inspiring views of both Troon Mountain and Pinnacle Peak, usually when lit by the amber rays of sunset. The radiantly rustic furnishings and décor of the cozy drinkery, located inside the opulent Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale, is equally splendid, having been hewn from mesquite trees and the titular stone. But these posh amenities take a back seat to the vibrant alcoholic concoctions and small-plate delights served here. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.oxsportsbaraz.com Tucked behind a Circle K just off 32nd Street north of Thomas Road, this ramshackle neighborhood tavern might be a little hard to locate, but is totally worth hunting for since the Ox kinda rocks. The blue collar crowd picks this joint as the meeting place to play darts, as evidenced by its six different boards and dozens of plaques lining the walls. There's also plenty of cheap booze and the usual sports bar amenities like four pool tables and a few hi-def big screens. American Idols can also get their sing on during the nightly karaoke events. http://www.ozphx.com With the only nod to its name being a poster of Dorothy and her friends hanging in the front entryway, the surroundings of this land of Oz are less Emerald City and more leather-rimmed bar, beer logo mirrors, and Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" blaring from the jukebox. It all makes sense, considering this is a joint that likens itself to the gay bar version of Cheers. Underneath a sparkling asphalt-like ceiling hanging over the bar, the mostly male crowd of gay northside locals kicks back and orders up cheap brews or food brought in from a nearby wine burger joint. With a small but hopping patio scene near a row of scooters, projection TV, and a happy hour from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, the Oz Bar may not be lined with yellow bricks, but at least it ain't Kansas, honey.
