There's no magic whiskey here, but there are plenty of life-enriching pints of Guinness and snifters of Jameson to go around. Overhead, a soundtrack of The Pogues and other Irish bands brings an aural taste of Ireland to the Southwest, accompanying the bartender as he speaks with a thick Irish accent while stomping across the wooden floor. The pub is a good place to view both types of football: New York Jets paraphernalia hangs next to soccer jerseys on the walls. Located next to Metrocenter, Finnegan's offers a hidden spot for parents to sneak away for drinks while their kids get tuckered out at neighboring Castles N' Coasters. To paraphrase the classic Chris Rock routine, "Sports bars are supposed to have big TVs!" That being said, the boob tubes at this popular chain's south Tempe location deserve special mention, simply because of their sheer size. We're talking an HDTV projector with a screen that literally stretches from floor to ceiling, giving a whole new meaning to the term "larger than life." Then again, that's pretty much the standard at Tilted Kilt, from the oversize pint glasses to the monstrous 10-ounce hamburger patties (yes, a double is available). And who needs pitchers when you can order a beer tube? The tubes come in 70- and 100-ounce sizes, basically providing a tap right at your table. Don't forget to bring some friends, though, because you'll need some help finishing one. In keeping with the bar's Celtic theme, the 17th of every month is deemed "St. Practice Day," with green beer and drink specials to keep you in shape for the real Saint Patty's throwdown in March. The barkeep calls you "sweetie" as you order a domestic and turn your attention to the game on one of the bar's numerous TVs. Toso's is a pigskin fan's hangout (the bartender is more than willing to talk smack about your favorite team) and the Patriot's Fan Club meets in the back room.
