  • Toby Keith

Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill

    9824 W. Northern Ave. Peoria, AZ 85345

  • Tony's Cocktail Lounge

    5930 W. Greenway Road Glendale, AZ 85306

  • Tony's Cocktail Lounge

    5930 W. Greenway Road Glendale, AZ 85306-3200

An amiable neighborhood spot with the soul of a dive bar, Tony's offers its patrons the best of both worlds with heavyweight pours, sporty thrills, and an impressive (for a gin joint, that is) beer selection. And though the Glendale favorite features a spit-and-polish vibe, new-ish carpet, and faux brick from a remodel a few years back, its cocktail lounge roots are still evident via all the pressboard wood paneling peeking out, photos of regulars taped to cracked mirrors, and its $2.50 PBR tallboy cans. It ain't the only trendy brew getting snatched up for cheap by the younger-skewing crowd (which includes students from the Thunderbird School of Global Management across the street), as pints of Stella, Rolling Rock, and Goose Island IPA are $3 apiece, and Peroni and Guinness are among the bottled imports and domestics. Check the whiteboards for other specials (like $3.75 Seagrams Bombers) and apply any dollars saved toward a game of pool, which has a major following here, as evidenced by a wall heavy on league plaques. Should some shark run the table on you, there's an ATM over in one corner. Read more about Tony's Cocktail Lounge >>

  • Toso

    Toso's Sports Grill

2401 W. Union Hills Drive Phoenix, AZ 85027

There's a limo parked outside Toso's Sports Grill in Glendale, but don't let that fool you. The folks in here are regular blue-collar types, greeted with hearty salutations by the bartender as they belly up to the bar for a lunchtime drink. The barkeep calls you "sweetie" as you order a domestic and turn your attention to the game on one of the bar's numerous TVs. Toso's is a pigskin fan's hangout (the bartender is more than willing to talk smack about your favorite team) and the Patriot's Fan Club meets in the back room. The bar still has plenty going on during the off-season, with live comedy on Friday night, and UFC specials. Read more about Toso's Sports Grill >>

  • The Turf Restaurant & Pub

    The Turf Restaurant & Pub

    705 N. 1st St. Phoenix, AZ 85004
602-296-5043 Do what you like to Turf's classic Caesar Salad. You can add chicken, shrimp, tuna, even calamari; it's still one of the best Caesars in town, made with fresh, crisp Romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese grated over homemade croutons and tossed with a perfectly made, lemony dressing. Follow this perfect salad with a traditional boxty, a delicious potato-based, grilled Irish pancake served with homemade soda bread and butter. The chicken boxty offers peppers and mushrooms tossed with chicken in a white wine cream sauce. Bangers and mash or burgers are other inspired options from Turf's gourmet kitchen, from which some pretty amazing meals have come. Just make sure to wash it all down with one of the many beers on draft of both local and Irish making or just a whiskey on the rocks. Read more about The Turf Restaurant & Pub >>

  • The Twisted Peacock (formerly Ice Pics Video Bar)

The Twisted Peacock (formerly Ice Pics Video Bar)

3108 E. Mc Dowell Road Phoenix, AZ 85008

According to both the bartenders and regulars at this Phoenix gay hangout, Ice Pics is where people can be themselves -- be they rich or poor, old or young -- and enjoy a night out without worrying about what they're wearing or what tax bracket they fall into. Entertainment abounds via the multiple television screens playing music videos or from the stage area in the back where female illusionist revues and strip shows are presented throughout the week. While there's no kitchen to speak of, the Red Devil restaurant next door can deliver food to customers who want to soak up the two-for-one drinks that are available until 8 p.m. each night. Still concerned that you might be a bit over the legal limit? Fear not. The bar provides free rides home from local cab companies, so you can be sure that you'll arrive home safe and sound.
