http://www.unclebearsbarandgrill.com Whenever we're in the mood to experience some karaoke fun with friends, we head for this East Valley establishment, where singalong action is featured two nights a week. In addition to a full menu of bar food delights, buckets of free peanuts are also available if you'd like a quick snack. Patrons usually discard their shells on the floor, so step carefully when heading to the bathroom between songs. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.unclebearsbarandgrill.com As the old expression goes: "If your dog doesn't like someone, you probably shouldn't either." The folks at Uncle Bear's Bar and Grill have taken the adage to heart, covering the establishment with pictures of pooches and pups. The floor is covered with peanut shells, and each table has a dog bowl filled with them. The place is pleasantly cluttered: In addition to the framed photos of man's best friend, the bar features vintage license plates and maps of Arizona, as well as mounted deer and buffalo heads, surely the bounty of some hunting trip with the dogs. The bar sits in the middle of the room, where you can sip from a variety of microbrews and $3 Bloody Marys on Sunday, as well as a family-friendly menu. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
Nestled into a far corner of the tiny strip mall just across the street from Mesa Community College, Uncle Monkeys exudes a certain level of charm. A cigarette vending machine glows near the door, and a wooden Native American statue stands watch over the jukebox, seemingly offering approval to any listening choices patrons make (word is he's a fan of "Buffalo Soldier"). Established way back in 1981, the bar is cash only, and features karaoke sessions every night starting at 9 p.m. Guitars line the walls alongside various biker paraphernalia, statues of monkeys (natch), and advertisements for the bars ladies night every Tuesday. It's a popular affair, where girls and gals get $2 you-call-it specials on drinks, including the cheekily named "Monkey Wiz" (a special blend of various juices and banana liqueurs). After a few sips, it won't take long to build up the courage to belt out your favorite classic rock anthem for an adoring crowd. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.universityofphoenixstadium.com Standing out amidst the dusty lots and cropland of Glendale’s western end, this silvery gridiron cathedral is where the football faithful flock on certain Sundays in the fall months for every Arizona Cardinals home game. Offering 63,400 seats (expandable up to 72,200 for the playoffs), it also features 88 luxury suites, three posh lounges, and 47 concession stands providing everything from American game-time favorites like hot dogs and wings to local spins on Mexican favorites and barbecue. In addition to being the site of the thrilling victories and tragic defeats of the Arizona Cardinals (more the latter than the former), as well as the annual Fiesta Bowl and two BCS Championships, the stadium has hosted sold-out concerts by The Rolling Stones and U2, a WrestleMania, and SuperBowl XLII in 2008, which featured the New York Giants’ impossible come-from-behind upset of the undefeated New England Patriots. Here’s hoping that won’t be only time the Vince Lombardi trophy is held aloft inside the joint, you hear us, Red Birds? Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
