Walk into Flicka's and you just might mistake the place for some beachside cantina in Cabo San Lucas instead of a roadside cantina in south Scottsdale.

  • Blue Moose

    Blue Moose

    7373 E. Scottsdale Mall Scottsdale, AZ 85251
    480-949-7959

http://www.bluemoosescottsdale.com Neighboring the Scottsdale Civic Center Park, the Blue Moose brings a little bit of wilderness to its arty surroundings. After walking across the manicured lawn and past the modern art sculptures, stumbling across the 'Moose is like finding a hunting lodge in the least likely of places. The food is unpretentious, and the crowds that gather there are just as likely to be talking about the big game as they are the interesting displays of minimalist design work outside. The patrons are no-fuss folks who enjoy such draught brews as Shock Top, Kiltlifter, and Moosehead under the watchful eye of the mounted moose presiding over the bar. The wood-paneled walls give the hall a rustic, lived in feel, and the waitresses are more than happy to offer weary would-be hunters suggestions from the menu and a cold beer to wash down the pub grub. • Bogey

    Bogey's

    6463 S. Rural Road Tempe, AZ 85281
    480-897-2127

http://www.bogeysgrillaz.com The name Bogey's says it all - and not because there are any Casablanca-themed decorations at this Tempe sports grill and hangout. The golf theme is explored all over the walls at this place, where kickballers and dodgeballers also congregate in herds. On NFL Sundays, the bar is a home away from home for displaced Vikings, Bears, and Bills fans, as well as a sizable contingent of Arizona Cardinals followers. The signature drink is Three Olives vodka, which runs only $3.50 all day long. Weekly events include Texas Hold'em on Thursday evenings and live music on Friday nights. You can also shoot a game of pool, hone your aim on Big Buck Hunter or play a round of cornhole. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>

And if you've forgotten about the enormity of the Red Sox's World Series win back in 2004, get a gander at all the memorabilia dedicated to both the team and its historic win that's displayed on the walls alongside pennants for other Bostonian sports squads. Off-track betting is also available, as well as an array of draft and bottled beers. Karaoke sessions, open mic nights, and poker tournaments nights are also offered throughout the week. • Boston

    Boston's The Gourmet Pizza

    400 W. University Drive Tempe, AZ 85281
    480-517-1500

http://www.bostonsgourmet.com This Tempe favorite, located just a few blocks west of Mill Avenue on the north side of University Drive, perfectly combines the spirit of a sports bar with the comfort of a sit-down restaurant. College kids and ASU fans typically gather in the bar area to witness all the big games on the numerous HDTVs, while families and couples enjoy quieter conversations in the dining room area (which, it's worth noting, offers ample vantage points for game watching as well). Boston's is also able to maintain chain restaurant consistency without sacrificing the quirky independence that makes it a neighborhood favorite. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>

  • Brad

    Brad's Place

    4747 E. Elliot Road Phoenix, AZ 85044
    480-961-9350

This snug, sports-oriented Ahwatukee tavern and eatery possesses a definite Midwestern bent. Besides a series of large, color-filled displays adorning the walls and serving as memorabilia-laden shrines to the collegiate and professional sports teams of Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota, folksy Great Lakes kitsch like framed snowshoes and bait shop ephemera dot the decor. The theme extends to the repast, which (along with a largely American pub grub spread of sandwiches, burgers, and finger foods) includes such homespun heartland staples as soft pretzels, beefy bratwurst, breaded pork loin sandwiches on sesame seed buns, thick slabs of meatloaf, and savory deep-fried white cheddar cheese curds. Huge filets of walleye are also available either grilled, pan-fried, or beer-battered, which the Minneapolis expats who frequent Brad’s Place wolf down with gusto as they discuss how Kirby Puckett’s walk-off homer in the 1991 World Series serves as the Twin Cities’ most thrilling sports moment. Brass Rail Sports Bar & Grill

    3738 E. Thomas Road Phoenix, AZ 85018

  • Brennan

    Brennan's Pub 'n Grub

    3510 E. Bell Road Phoenix, AZ 85032
    602-867-8106

http://www.brennanspubngrub.com It's possible to instantly feel like a regular at Brennan's, even if you've never visited before. The waitresses call you "honey," the biker clientele is friendly and welcoming, and first timers will occasionally get drink discounts. If you're there with pals, challenge them to a round of pool or some shuffleboard. The twice-weekly trivia nights are just as competitive, with patrons teaming up to answer general knowledge questions on Wednesdays, followed by salacious sex-themed trivia on Saturdays. Both events are breeding grounds for friendly rivalries and offer opportunities to make some new acquaintances. The bar also features dartboards and arcade games, as well as karaoke on Sunday and Monday nights. Tuesdays feature inexpensive Mexican fare, including half-priced appetizers and $2 margaritas. You'll probably wind up sharing some with your new friends at the table next to you. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>

  • Brigett

    Brigett's Last Laugh

17222 N. Cave Creek Road Phoenix, AZ 85032
    602-788-0507

http://www.brigetts.com Even if it looks like a biker bar, with all those shiny-chrome hogs out front, Brigett's real charm is as one of Phoenix's unsung karaoke capitals. The bar hosts sing-a-long fun seven nights a week, and the songs you'll hear performed are as diverse as the people singing them. There might be a dude with long hair and a flannel shirt singing rock 'n' roll, followed by a middle-aged fellow belting out some chart-topper, followed by a biker babe doing her own kooky thing. Everybody's friendly here, and if you can't be talked into a duet, maybe a game of pool or darts will suffice. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>

  • The British Open Pub

    The British Open Pub

    1334 N. Scottsdale Road Scottsdale, AZ 85257
    480-941-4915

http://www.thebritishopenpub.com Cozy British-themed pub with a fair selection of British and international beers, and some pretty decent English grub: sausage rolls, fish and chips, bangers and mash, and an excellent beef and Guinness pie. Baskets of Wallys -- deep-fried spears of dill pickles -- make for terrific bar food. For a happy ending, look to the dessert menu, offering such blood-sugar-raising delights as bread pudding with Grand Marnier. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>

  • BS West

    BS West

    7125 E. Fifth Ave. Scottsdale, AZ 85251
    480-945-9028

http://www.bswest.com BS West is absolutely one of the friendliest clubs you'll ever party at, whether you're bi, gay, straight, or none of the above. Hidden in Scottsdale's back streets (despite its Fifth Avenue address), the party's always pumpin', with enough stud muffins in attendance to make a het fella rethink his sexuality. It's got the feel of a two-story gay frat house in the midst of Scottsdale's party scene, with a 2-4-1 hump day special that makes BS the place to hit on Wednesday nights. But as wild as it can get, BS still retains a neighborly feel, where people aren't afraid to converse with one another, or at least flirt shamelessly. And the bartenders actually seem happy to have your business, unlike at some other places where they make you feel like they're doing you a favor by serving you. BS has been going strong since 1988, and if it stays the way it is, it'll probably be alive and kickin' in 2088. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
