Another reason to go to Ahwatukee! Brad's fired cheese curds can't be found anywhere else, and we crave the Pork Chili Verde all week long. Daily specials are always tasty and filling at this clean, sporty meeting place. Check out the weekly Friday Night Walleye Fish Fry, and the Bratwurst Burger topped with sauerkraut and cheese. Yum! This snug, sports-oriented Ahwatukee tavern and eatery possesses a definite Midwestern bent. Besides a series of large, color-filled displays adorning the walls and serving as memorabilia-laden shrines to the collegiate and professional sports teams of Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota, folksy Great Lakes kitsch like framed snowshoes and bait shop ephemera dot the decor. The theme extends to the repast, which (along with a largely American pub grub spread of sandwiches, burgers, and finger foods) includes such homespun heartland staples as soft pretzels, beefy bratwurst, breaded pork loin sandwiches on sesame seed buns, thick slabs of meatloaf, and savory deep-fried white cheddar cheese curds. Huge filets of walleye are also available either grilled, pan-fried, or beer-battered, which the Minneapolis expats who frequent Brad’s Place wolf down with gusto as they discuss how Kirby Puckett’s walk-off homer in the 1991 World Series serves as the Twin Cities’ most thrilling sports moment. http://www.cactusjacksbaraz.net We started coming to Cactus Jack's for an after-work beer, but soon discovered the delicious food specials and now head here for early evening suppers. And what suppers! On Wednesdays, a two-topping pizza is only four bucks-talk about help getting over hump day! Speaking of pizza, Friday night is the night for Cactus Jack's All You Can Eat Pizza Smorgasbord-delicious, hot pies and side salads fresh from the kitchen and sure to please even the less-inebriated. Every meal at this cool club is accompanied by a drink special, so be sure to ask the bartender as you arrive-hopefully with an appetite. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.ckgrill.com This eclectic Ahwatukee establishment functions as both a sports joint and live music venue, offering the best of both worlds to its funky and family-oriented clientele. A total of 40 different high-definition flatscreens feature all the major sports packages and are bound to have whatever big game you're seeking. Meanwhile, the fully stocked bar boasts more than 20 beers and cocktails aplenty and the weekend music schedule is packed with rock, blues, and tribute bands from throughout the Valley. But whether they're singing along with their favorite Journey song, asserting their dominance in billiards or shuffleboard, or downing a few ales with friends, CK's patrons always seem to be having a good time. http://www.publichousegarage.com/home.php Boasting sweet metalwork and an automotive-inspired decor, the Garage Public House knows how to complete a theme: as gas prices go up, the price of the first round of beers goes down. This Ahwatukee spot is clean and modern looking, with vintage photos lining the wall, gleaming garage style doors and chic lighting overlooking rows of plush leather booths and a massive, circular bar in the center. The setup alludes back to the "Garage Family's" history, when the family used secretly housed a moonshine operation under the guise of a simple filling station. The kitchen serves up New American style cuisine, and the bar is loaded with an extensive array of liquors and wines, making the Garage Public House worth fuel-stop for the evening. http://www.rockbottom.com This Ahwatukee meet-up destination has lots of great food options and plenty of space for a large party on the patio, but the beer is what really sets this national chain apart. Rock Bottom produces several thirst-quenching microbrews right there on site, all mixed by the restaurant's in-house brew master. In true brewery tradition, Rock Bottom even offers a cask-conditioned ale. Non-beer lovers in the group can check out the lengthy list of classic and creative cocktails. Take advantage of happy hour specials and late night eats every day of the week. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
http://www.sushieye.com Attractive, bright sushi outlet with a fetching lime and mint green interior design, and a sushi bar that produces some really excellent sushi rolls. Try the sweet, tuna-wrapped Cherry Blossom Roll, the spicy Climax Roll topped with jalapeños, or the ASU Roll, wrapped around shrimp tempura. Trad sushi is great here, too, like the blue uni topped with quail's egg, the syrupy eel, or the fatty toro, to name a few. Very friendly staff is a plus. If this place is in your 'hood, count yourself lucky. Read more about this Phoenix bar or club >>
