http://www.carmelsbreakfast.com This Central Phoenix coffee house – located in a vintage 1940s house on Camelback Road in Arcadia – is a favorite for its warm, cozy interior, interesting artwork, and freshly brewed java (using Lux beans). But what has us returning again and again is the full menu of breakfast and lunch items. Carmel’s Coffee and Bakery does of course have classic baked goods like scones, muffins, and croissants, but it also serves omelets, open-faced tartines, breakfast burritos, classic breakfast plates with eggs and toast, sweet and savory crepes, French toast croissants with real maple syrup, and croissant sandwiches with bacon and egg. Breakfast is served all day, but lunch items like BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, mac and cheese muffins, grilled cheese, and quiche are added later in the day. When the weather permits, Carmel’s has plenty of patio space available to sit and savor your morning coffee or to recharge while enjoying a midday meal. More >>
http://www.cartelcoffeelab.com/cartel-5th-ave-scottsdale-az/ If you live in Phoenix and haven’t heard of Cartel Coffee Lab, you’ve probably been living under a Starbucks-shaped rock. Or maybe you just don’t drink java. This local coffee roaster is the best known in the café scene, and chances are you’ve sipped their coffee somewhere around town without realizing it, like Jobot Coffee Shop, which brews its own custom roast. But true fans go straight to the source – one of Cartel Coffee Lab’s four locations in Tempe, Scottsdale, Downtown Phoenix, and Tucson – to get their fix of Black Market Espresso. Cartel sources its four-bean blend from a single high-elevation farm in the Sul de Mina region of Brazil, where it goes through a natural pulping process on-site before leaving for its final destination, your cup. Once Cartel gets its hands on the green beans, they’re roasted to create a bold-flavored coffee with citrus and chocolate notes and a dash of sweetness. More >>

http://www.thecoffeeshopaz.com/TCS/ This upscale coffee joint is housed inside a re-purposed maintenance garage. It sounds a little random but its really not considering that The Coffee Shop sits on the grounds of Agritopia, the urban farm oasis in Gilbert. Inside the coffee house you'll find a spacious place with great natural lighting. Order up one of their many specialty coffee drinks – might we suggest the Black and White, which comes with espresso, milk, white and milk chocolate and whipped cream – and enjoy the indoor seating or the outdoor patio. If you make a trip out to this spot it's worth the extra calories to pick up one of their famous cupcakes, made from scratch and always as pretty to look at as they are eat. They also have a breakfast menu, fresh pastries and plenty of sandwich options to please even the most picky pallets. More >>

http://www.natn-az.com/home/cup_o_karma Not all coffeehouses charge nearly $5 for a latte to take advantage of drowsy caffeine addicts; some focus on giving back to their local community. Cup O’ Karma in Mesa is one such place, a community café for a cause run by The National Advocacy & Training Network (NATN), a human rights organization. Proceeds from the sales at this café go to advance the mission of NATN – addressing the health, safety, economic, and social justice issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and substance abuse through education, public awareness, and direct services. That includes providing on-the-job training opportunities to women in need. And you don’t just get a warm, fuzzy feeling from being a customer there; you can also walk away with one of the best iced teas in town. There’s a wide variety of tea to choose from, including classics like green tea, spicy blends like chai, and fruity flavors like tangerine. More >>
http://www.cupzncrepes.com There's nothing quite so perfect as the combination of fresh coffee and a perfectly-prepared crepe. And lucky for us, when we're looking to satisfy the craving we need not look any farther than Cupz N' Crepes in Ahwatukee. The south Phoenix eatery specializes in made-to-order crepes of both the sweet and savory variety filled with fresh meats, veggies and fruits. We particularly enjoy the The Nat, a unique buffalo-style crepe with chicken, hot sauce and blue cheese crumbles. For those looking for more traditional fare they have a selection of Nutella crepes as well as the Paris street-food classic: sugar and lemon juice. They also offer a breakfast menu and an assortment of salads including a classic chicken Caesar and a cranberry spinach salad with poppy seed dressing. Aside from the wallet-friendly eats they also boast some of the Valley's best coffee. Thanks to the free Wi-Fi, we may never have to leave. More >>
