    Last Exit Live

    717 S. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85004
602-271-7000 When Brannon Kleinlein announced he was reopening his bygone venue Last Exit, we had a few doubts. Not only is the cozy music venue located along a confusing one-way stretch of Central Avenue, it's also in the heart of a dodgy 'hood south of downtown Phoenix. After Kleinlein fixed the joint up, improved parking and security, and began getting the word out via social media, scenesters and music gourmandizers alike have found their way to shows, especially those involving popular and tastemaking touring and local bands. Crowds have even shown up for concerts in the middle of the workweek, which Kleinlein cites as a good sign things are going well. More >>

Lobby Bar at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa

7500 E. Doubletree Ranch Road Scottsdale, AZ 85258
480-444-1234 An exotic and romantic date spot thanks to its lakes, waterfalls and gondola rides, the Hyatt's further buoyed by the resort's rotating live music roster. Every night in the lounge you can find one of three acts -- Paul McDermand (steel drums and marimba), Mosaico (a flamenco group with dancers) and Nuance (a contemporary classical group). More >>

  • Los Dos Molinos

    Los Dos Molinos

    8646 S. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85042
602-243-9113 It's no wonder the spicy food at Los Dos Molinos is downright legendary - New Mexican red chiles and Hatch Valley green chiles, in one form or another, star in almost every house specialty, from fat chimichangas, smothered in green chile, to the outstanding adovada ribs, which are marinated in red chile sauce and cooked to falling-off-the-bone tenderness. But's it's not all tongue-tingling heat. The moist, mouthwatering carnitas, done up in a Dutch oven, is simply some of the best pork we've ever eaten. Portions here are generous, and the dishes are so good you'll want to clean your plate, but it's worth it to save room for hot, chewy, crisp sopaipillas, drizzled with honey. More >>

  • Lost Leaf

    Lost Leaf

    914 N. 5th St. Phoenix, AZ 85004
602-258-0014 The folks behind The Lost Leaf are pretty sincere about their beer. The bohemian-style drinkery/gallery, housed in a vintage 1930s-era domicile, offers a selection of more than 100 different kinds of ales, lagers, stouts, and other intoxicating brews available by the bottle. If that isn't enough to wet your whistle, the Lost Leaf also serves a host of wines, meads, and even sake, to boot. If you can tear yourself away from the bar, check out the pulchritudinous paintings and other outstanding works of art hanging on the walls, or enjoy nightly performances by a variety of musicians and bands.
