Etherton Gallery celebrates the career of Arizona painter James G. Davis in a retrospective exhibition, Down at the Tower Bar, which features paintings and prints made over four decades, shown with new paintings by Turner G. Davis in the Axial Gallery and featuring Michael Chittock in the In-House pop-up. James G. Davis is best known for large-scale oil paintings that demonstrate his ability to fuse the familiar, mundane experiences of home with his life as a citizen of the world. He was an influential member of Rancho Linda Vista, an artist community in Oracle, Arizona and taught at the School of Art at the University of Arizona from 1970-1991. His work enjoyed broad appeal from collectors and institutions in the United States and Europe, and he produced a substantial body of work before passing away in 2016. Down at the Tower Bar opens with a reception: 7-10pm, Saturday, September 9, 2017 and continues through November 11. For more information contact Etherton Gallery.
