Promotional Event Description
After 5 years, Scottsdale Beat The Heat: The Hottest Race on Earth returns, joining the Scottsdale Fahrenheit Festival on June 16th. There are great feats of athletic endurance worthy of note: marathons, triathlons and runs through odd things. But there’s not been anything else like this: a trying dash through the desert heat on one of the hottest days of the year, at the hottest time of day. The good news? The World’s largest inflatable water slide will be at the finish line. Sponsored by Maricopa Ambulance, there will be no early morning start to avoid broiling temps. Nor will this be a race at dusk when cooler air begins creeping in. The gun will go off at 2:47 p.m. sharp, the time of day in 1990 when thermometers in the Phoenix area struck 122 degrees on June 26. When first organized in 2013, Ethiopian Olympian runner Nahom Mesfin Tariku who took first place and said “it was the hottest race in my life.” So who is brave enough? Fit enough? Ready enough to join us on an amazing course through some of Scottsdale’s greatest sights? For the hottest race on earth….. Registration is open now.
