Believe it or not, but it looks as though Adam Dumper's been taking a few cues from both Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders lately. Over the past year or so, the local artist and impresario, better known as Dumperfoo, has transformed his signature event The Blunt Club into a veritable franchise via various spin-offs of the urban art/hip-hop night that he's been staging in cities like Oakland and San Diego. Earlier this month, Dumper also expanded the Blunt Club family even further when he teamed with DJ Organic to launch the new Wednesday night offspring Uptown at Rips Ales and Cocktails, 3045 North 16th Street, along with DJ Organic. Like it's mothership event, the hump-night joint will feature live performance, live art sessions, and guest DJs each week, as well as "Dumper on the paint" and "Organic on the wheels" weaving together and audio/visual mix of pigments and pimp sounds that will include everything from Motown and Stax tunes to hip-hop classics, funk, and EDM. The needles and paints start dropping at 10 p.m. and there's no cover. Call 602-266-0015.
