One could argue that downtown Phoenix dries up come the summer season, but hundred-degree temperatures and vampire hours be damned. A handful of artists have been hiding from the heat, creating work for gallery exhibition, “Future Shock.”

Organized by Ishmael Dueñas, the collaborative show includes work from art scene staples like J.B. Snyder and Tato Caraveo, as well as Scott Biersack, the 2014 New Times Big Brain Award winner for design. Dueñas says he developed the idea after working on pop-up galleries for this year’s Art Detour and Paint PHX. He wanted to incorporate both established and up-and-coming artists, many of whom share a similar aesthetic.

Check out the ongoing group show by appointment on Wednesday, July 16, at Frontal Lobe Community Space and Gallery at Bragg’s Pie Factory, 1301 West Grand Avenue. Viewing is free and open to the public through Friday, August 15. Hours vary. For details, visit www.facebook.com/FontalLobeCommunitySpaceAndGallery.
