It can feel like death when you can’t make heads or tails of the jumble of Scrabble tiles that you’ve been dealt. If you love being delivered from defeat by a well-timed letter combo like “qi” or “kwyjibo,” you’ll want to join The Scrabble Club on Sunday, August 3, at Paradise Valley’s Mesquite Library.
The wordy board game enthusiasts don’t just stop at Scrabble; players dabble in Boggle, Upwords, and more recent sensation Bananagrams. All levels of experience are welcome and players are encouraged to bring their own editions if they’d like. Maybe you’ll find that there’s a home board advantage. If you choose to face one of the prodigies that’s sure to show up, you might need all the help you can get.
The Scrabble Club meets on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. at Mesquite Library, 4525 East Paradise Parkway North. Admission is free, and more info can be found at www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org.
