The Bar on Central

Whenever entrepreneur Mark Howard gets involved with a bar/restaurant concept, it’s guaranteed to offer an arty bent, tony decor, and luxe libations. Such is the case with FEZ and Bliss/ReBAR, both of which he co-owns, and his newest baby, The BAR on Central. True to form, an enticing selection of high-style signature drinks, champagne cocktails, martinis, and wines are available at this urbane-meets-urban LGBT-oriented lounge and nightclub. Howard, along with his Bliss/ReBAR partners Kevin and Jackson Kelly, created a pastiche of cute and kitsch (read: Sputnik ceiling lamps, porthole mirrors, and mid-century pop art) throughout the spacious interior and exterior of the Central Avenue spot. They also left the gorgeous antique bar and enormous outdoor patio (dubbed The BACK Bar) from its days as Amsterdam largely unchanged, save for some nifty amenities like strategically placed smartphone recharge stations and glow panels outside. It allows those taking a break from dancing during DJ nights to see the face of a potential paramour, be they gay, straight, or otherwise, but also get their digits.
