If you walk in the door and take a gander at his creations, you are guaranteed to buy something. The North Phoenix storefront prepares and sells everything from breakfast bites like mini bran muffins and alligator coffee cake to decadent treats like mango mousse (made in the bakery with real fruit) and bread pudding with whiskey sauce. There are also fresh breads, perfectly filled éclairs, iced cookies, pumpkin doughnuts, quiche, pizza, sticky buns, and blueberry cream cheese super-muffins to choose from. Karl even takes special orders, like a birthday cake composed of Boston cream donuts. In this full-service retail bakery, also look for The Baker’s Daughter chocolates, the passion of Karl’s daughter, who studied the art of chocolate for three years in Switzerland.
