La Piccola Cucina

2241 N. 7th St.
Phoenix, AZ 85006
602-358-7415
Out of all the mom-and-pop spots in town, how often do you literally get to meet mom and pop? At La Piccola Cucina, you’ll likely encounter gregarious owner Andy Pappas, who might belt out a few lines of opera as he makes your espresso, and his wife Debbie, a retired flight attendant. Together, they’ve renovated a cute 1924 house and turned it into a fast-casual Mediterranean café, where you can stop by for a killer sandwich, hearty entrees and sides to eat in or take out, and lovely desserts, including homemade cannoli, cheesecake from New York’s Venerio Pastry shop, and Berto’s gelato.
