Rips Ales & Cocktails

3045 N. 16th St. Phoenix, AZ 85016 | East Phoenix | 602-266-0015

Location Description:

This distinctive-looking CenPho destination for both drinkers and rockers is pretty steeped in history. Its unique Googie-like angular architecture illustrates its mid-century origins as a neighborhood watering hole dating back to the 1950s, which hosted performances by such legendary performers as Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson a few decades ago. These days, however, Rips is home to more of a punk and rockabilly types, who venture into its throwback milieu to witness gigs by local and touring bands from those genres, as well as flocks of trendy twentysomethings who turnout for hip monthly dance events like Shadowplay and Obscura, or just to sample some of the brews and booze that's served with nary any affectation and soak up the retro vibe.
