When we want a smaller-scale, cozier sushi experience, we head straight for this Scottsdale eatery, where we can enjoy sushi served in the true Japanese style. By which we mean bigger, thicker slices of fish served in an unpretentious, café-style atmosphere. At Sakana, the quality of the seafood is always high. Fresh-cut fish, flown in each day, make up a short but ample menu of sushi combinations. We love this place for lunch, where for less than ten bucks we can have a repast fit for a king. Usually we want Yellowtail sashimi, served here in big slices. Also good-and really inexpensive-is the fresh, tasty Albacore sashimi, which we always order with a Boston roll. The Tuna Tataki Salad is perfect, as is the Kirin Ichiban. Who knew you could eat sushi and feel full? We do, now, and plan to keep going back for more.
