One thing is for sure about The Shady Dell: it’s no ordinary trailer park. The park is such an oddball historic treasure that it’s even been featured on the Travel Channel as a top destination in the U.S. Located in quaint Bisbee, Arizona, the campground features nine fully restored vintage trailers from the ’40s and ’50s, each one decked out with knick knacks and tzotchkes from days gone by. The oldest in the collection are from 1947, an Airporter bus that’s been transformed into a Tiki-themed “Polynesian Palace” complete with hand-carved bar, and a cozy houseboat with a galley, champagne-filled refrigerator, and vintage boating memorabilia. The Shady Dell also has a polished aluminum Airstream trailer decked out to be a romantic retreat. Each trailer has space heaters, electric blankets, and swamp coolers, and there are charcoal grills and bathroom and shower facilities for use on the premises. Starting at $82/night, guests can enjoy a “hotel” experience unlike any other.
