It's amazing to think that the two-day, self-guided tour of our arts district is on year 22. The tradition began in 1988 and had just a handful of galleries and studio spaces that opened their doors for the public to explore. Now the Phoenix tradition brings in close to 10,000 participants.

That's a crap-ton of people.

To make the event accessible, galleries and studio artists need to get on the ball and apply to Artlink (the non-profit organization responsible for First Friday and Art Detour). The submission of application and participation fees lands a listing with description and location details in the brochure.

And especially for you studio-less, gallery-less individual artists who want to be featured in the "Mystery Gallery" section, you better get on it quick. There are only 20 spots and it's on a first-come, first served basis.
