The Dirty Devil has become a dropout, literally.

The sinful-sounding ASU watering, located at 560 South College Avenue in Tempe (within stumbling distance to Sun Devil Stadium), transformed into the jock-oriented College Dropouts this past weekend.

While the Dirty Devil's jet-black color scheme and weekly hip-hop dance night went away with the name change, the joint will continue to feature dirt-cheap beer night every Tuesday (where patrons can get penny domestic drafts after ponying up the $5 cover charge).

Here's a look at the, er...new look:

It's not the only local watering hole that's gone through a metamorphosis as of late. Local gay bar Friends, which known for its weekly "Martini Club" on Wednesdays, was redesigned and re-christened recently as The Cherry Bar (1028 East Indian School Road, 602-277-7729).

The CenPho GLBT drinkery (which shouldn't be confused with Mill Avenue hetero hangout Cherry Lounge & Pit), is aiming for the "upscale beer bar" vibe and features karaoke on Mondays and a weekly "'80s Flashback Party" every Wednesday. -- Benjamin Leatherman
