Downtown Phoenix Clubs Silver Martini & Wine Bar and Sky Lounge Re-open
The new and improved Silver Martini & Wine Bar in downtown Phoenix.

Here’s some good news for local clubgoers: After a long, hot summer of being closed down, popular downtown nightspots Silver Martini & Wine Bar and Sky Lounge both re-opened to the public within the last few weeks.
As staff writer Niki D’Andrea reported previously, both clubs were shut down in June by inspectors from the city of Phoenix’s Neighborhood Services Department due to various unspecified building code issues.
Spokespersons from both Sky Lounge and Silver both told Phoenix New Times that they’ve spent the past three months fixing up their respective clubs and bringing them up to code.
Sky Lounge, open for business once again.
Chris Harman, Silver’s general manager, says his joint re-opened on September 12 and all their issues with the city have been resolved. The neighboring Sky Lounge opened its doors a week prior, near the beginning of the month. (Check out our slideshow of both clubs). Both clubs will continue to offer the same drinking and dancing distractions on multiple nights of the week (see below for the current DJ lineups at either place).
Silver also went through a complete remodeling, and an interesting new feature is some uniquely decorated tables in its rear lounge area that are covered with laminated newspaper clippings. One eye-catching tabletop featured a few clips and photos from last month’s scathing Phoenix New Times article (penned by executive editor Michael Lacey) detailing staff writer Ray Stern’s completely unjust arrest by officials from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Harman says he and the rest of Silver’s staff are “big fans” of our fight with Sheriff Joe and created the table in tribute. (Thanks guys, just don’t forget to turn out at the polls on November 4 and help vote Arpaio out of office).
Silver will be holding a “Grand Re-opening” party this weekend on Sunday, September 28, featuring an appearance by comedian T.K. Kirkland.
