First Five Bands Announced for Punk Rock Bowling 2012
The term "punk festival" conjures up images of bratty tweens with asymmetrical haircuts crowd surfing at Warped Tour. Remember when Warped Tour actually had punk bands and was, you know, good? It may seem like a bygone era, but the annual Punk Rock Bowling Music Festival in Las Vegas caters to the punk bands that made the '90s a little more bearable. Last year, the festival boasted big names like Descendents, Stiff Little Fingers, and Manic Hispanic.
BYO Records has released the names of the first five bands slated to be on the bill.
The lineup plays out a bit like a wet dream for anyone who grew up with the so-called punk revival bands about a decade ago. The biggest names are Rancid, NOFX, and Pennywise, which sound like the perfect headliners for Warped Tour '02.
Very limited spots for the bowling and poker tournaments are still available and will fill up fast. Here's your chance to bowl next to Fat Mike and let him know how you really feel about Phoenix becoming the next Detroit.
The 14th annual Punk Rock Bowling Music Festival takes place Memorial Day Weekend in downtown Las Vegas. The rest of the lineup will be announced (hopefully) soon.
