Yeah, those "free hugs" campaigns are getting a little annoying, but you can't help but feel the love when looking at the flier for Tempe band Kirkwood Dellinger's CD release party this Saturday, March 6 at Yucca Tap Room. The message is definitely a loving one.
The three-and-a-half-year-old band translates the feel-good message of the poster into their fun, quirky music. The new tunage can be found on their upcoming full-length, Gold, which is the band's first release since the 2008 EP, Miniature Stallion. The album is released on indie label DC-Jam.
This is your chance to hear the music first, before the band preps to hit the road for a tour this summer. Their success may come as no surprise to some, considering the band already has talent in its blood -- frontman Elmo Kirkwood's dad Curt and uncle Cris are in the Meat Puppets.
Kirkwood Dellinger plays a free show with Necronauts, Blind Divine and more starting at 8 p.m. Hear some of their music now on their MySpace.
