Furious Styles and Artwalk Extension Anniversary Celebration
Hip-hop hooray! It's that time of year again, when the 'Nix's infamous Furious Styles Crew celebrates its anniversary with a flavor-filled blowout. This is the Styles' 11th year reigning as the Valley's premier b-boy and b-girl crew (that's break-dancing for all you crackers out there). It's also the first anniversary of the Blow-Up Co-Op's First Friday Artwalk Extension. This year's festivities, hosted by Universatile Music, take place at the Old Brickhouse on Friday, December 3, headlined by none less than Blackalicious rapper Gift of Gab. Gab is joined by DJs Presto One and Wobbles (of the notorious Rock Steady Crew), as well as Drunken Immortals doing an instrumental funk and breaks set, Fraze and DJ Mantis, Ill Al the Anglo, Mesi, and Skip Skoolnik. This event is all ages, and costs you only $15 at the door. Show up early in the afternoon and catch the barbecue action (from 2 to 6 p.m.) and outdoor live painting by Dumperfoo and Mosha in the parking lot, which will be transformed into a graffiti courtyard with graf art by the Nitty Gritty and Chicago's Most Wanted crews.
